Acquire French the natural way by listening to stories:

The natural way to acquire another language is to first listen to the language. You already did it when you were a baby. You did not talk first and your parents did not force you to talk, they kept talking to you and telling you stories. The same happens here, you should first listen to the language you want to learn and then speak it when you are ready!

Here are stories I tell my French learners and which I recorded so that anyone wanting to acquire French can listen to.

Stories are intriguing, they capture your imagination and instead of focusing on learning a language, you are focusing on comprehending the story. The language itself is not your worry anymore, you are interested in the content, in knowing what is going to happen next in the story and therefore you are acquiring the language without noticing it. Stories are also stress free, they calm the mind down. The stories usually start with “Once upon a time there was a …” which is a typical beginning and everyone feels comfortable with familiarity and do not feel threatened or uneasy.

It is like magic. All you have to do is to listen to a story in French every day or every week, and your fluency and proficiency will improve. When you understand and have fun listening to stories in French, you will get better in French.
